GENERAL QUESTIONS
How much does it cost to host my files with MoveDigital?
The cost to host your files with MoveDigital depends on how many files you upload, how large the files are and how often your files are downloaded. MoveDigital offers a variety of pricing plans to cater to everyone's specific needs. Our various pricing plans can be viewed on the pricing page and compared in the Plan Matrix. Pricing plans are for one full year, there are no monthly fees. Unused delivery bandwidth rolls over to the next month and there are no advertisements. The exact cost to distribute your file via direct downloads is calculated on completed downloads only. The cost to distribute your file via peer-to-peer or mobile streaming is calculated on a per byte transferred basis.
Are the plan fees monthly or annual?
The MoveDigital plan fees support storage and delivery for one year. There are no monthly fees. For example, if you purchase a Basic Plan for $9.95, you get 1 gigabyte of storage for a year and 20 gigabytes of bandwidth to support your file delivery. Delivery bandwidth will be decremented from your account as files are downloaded, no matter what amount of time has gone by. If your delivery bandwidth starts to run out, you will be prompted with an email from MoveDigital to upgrade to a bigger plan or add delivery bandwidth on a gigabyte basis. The price per gigabyte depends on the pricing plan originally purchased. For example, the price per gigabyte is only $0.25 if you purchase the "Plus" plan.
How do I choose the correct MoveDigital paid plan for my needs?
To determine the appropriate plan, you will need to estimate the amount of storage and delivery bandwidth you will need for the year. If you don’t get it right the first time, it is easy to buy more storage or delivery bandwidth as an add-on or upgrade to a larger plan later on.
Use the following formula to figure out how much delivery bandwidth per month you anticipate using to distribute your file.
((DWNLDS * SIZE) * 30)/ 1024 = GB /month
Variables:
DWNLDS = Estimated number of downloads per day
SIZE = Size of your file in KB (Windows: Right click on file > Properties; Mac: Right click on file > Getinfo)
Number of days in a month: 30
Example:
Let’s say you expected 25 downloads per day of a 50 MB file. That is, the DWNLDS = 25 and the SIZE (in KB) = 50,000 KB.
The calculation would be: ((25 x 50,000) x 30) / 1024 = approx. 36 GB/month
If you purchased the MoveDigital "Pro" plan for $99.95, you would come close to satisfying your file distribute requirements for one year.
How is delivery bandwidth deducted from my account?
MoveDigital only deducts bandwidth from your account after the entire direct download is completed. If a direct download is stopped before completion, no bandwidth is deducted. For P2P traffic generated by MoveDigital on your behalf and for mobile streams, bandwidth is deducted on a per-byte transferred basis.
How will I know if my delivery bandwidth or storage is running out?
You will receive a series of warning emails reminding you that your delivery bandwidth is running out. These emails will include instructions on how to top up your account.
Does the delivery bandwidth in my account ever expire?
Delivery bandwidth placed into your account never expires. When you renew your yearly plan, you keep what you already have and the delivery bandwidth for the plan renewal is added on top of that into your account.
How do I add additional delivery bandwidth to my account?
Go to the "my account" page to add delivery bandwidth to your account. Additional delivery can be purchased at a price ranging from $0.25/GB to $0.50/GB depending on what pricing plan was purchased.
Can a subscriber delete files to stay within the allotted storage amount?
Yes. In the "my files" menu, click on the file name and select "file>delete" to delete files from your account.
How do I add additional storage to my account?
Go to the "my account" page to add delivery bandwidth to your account. The amount of storage in all of the MoveDigital plans is allocated for one year and can be increased as needed at $9.95/GB/year.
What happens if my delivery bandwidth runs out before I have had a chance to refill?
If your bandwidth runs out on your account, your file(s) will have an inactive status and will not be downloadable. You will receive an email explaining that your account is out of bandwidth and instructions detailing how to re-activate your account.
How do I donate bandwidth? What does donating bandwidth mean?
The Donate Bandwidth feature allows others to directly pay for and add bandwidth to your MoveDigital account. MoveDigital customers use the Donate Bandwidth feature to help fund their causes or grass roots organizations.
With the Donate Bandwidth feature, people who are recipients of a MoveDigital download link can donate money to pay for the bandwidth used to deliver additional content to others. If you send your recipient a link to your "public page", there is a mechanism for the recipient to actually contribute money to your account. Or, if you embed a web widget on your website, people can donate bandwidth to your account by clicking on the Share button.

How long does it take to upload a file?
The time it takes for the uploading process to complete depends on a number of factors. Larger files take longer to upload. You can expect an upload to take 1-5 minutes for every 1MB if you have a high-speed internet connection.
Upload speeds depend on your connection speed with your service provider. For home users, upload speed is about 10% of download speed. Upload speeds also depend on the number of people using your connection simultaneously.
It is recommended that you turn off P2P applications when uploading, remove Spyware applications from your computer, and compress extra large files to improve upload speeds.
Does MoveDigital compress files?
The MoveDigital online service does not compress files. However, if you send us the master file on DVD or on a USB drive, we would be happy to compress the file for you.
Why won’t my file upload?
A common reason why a file does not upload is that the file's name contains "URL illegal" characters such as &, %, /,\, -, ., or space. We suggest changing the name of your file before uploading it if the file name includes any of these characters.

2. The second choice is to "get the download link". Here you can right click to copy the file’s URL or "link". If you are using a Mac, hold down the control key while clicking. With the link copied, you can paste it into an email or post it on a blog or website. This will give your clients direct access to download your file.
3. Another alternative for sharing your file is to give your client access to the file’s page. This page displays more information about the file so clients understand what they are going to download, before downloading. To take a look at the file’s page, choose the "view the file’s page" option. How do I send more than one file at a time?
There are two options for sending multiple files. The first option is to send a folder containing multiple files. BITTORRENT (P2P) PUBLISHING
What is BitTorrent (peer-to-peer, P2P, torrent) publishing and what does it do for me?
The ability to "torrent" a file or folder gives you the opportunity to share your files on the internet through a peer-to-peer network. Sections of your file are downloaded from various points across the Internet, until the entire file is retrieved. Since the downloading is shared peer-to-peer, there is no cost for file delivery.
How do I create a torrent file or folder?
Go to the "my files" page and click on the file name or folder name. Select "convert > create file torrent" or "convert > create folder torrent" to create a torrent file or folder respectively.
What is P2P smartseed and how does it work?
The P2P smartseed allows you to set a seeding threshold on your BitTorrent sessions. This tells MoveDigital to stop actively seeding your BitTorrent when enough external users are already contributing bandwidth. This feature enables you to save your MoveDigital bandwidth by relying only on other seeders for bandwidth. When MoveDigital sees your BitTorrent fall below this threshold, it again starts seeding to ensure constant activity. You can set the seed threshold on the "my account" page.
What is the multi-tracker torrent support?
Multi-tracker torrent support allows you to specify the names of alternate BitTorrent trackers that you would like MoveDigital to include when it creates torrent files for you. This will enable you to upload your torrent files into these external tracking sites if that site supports the "announce-list" torrent feature. You can enter torrent trackers on the "my account" page.
Does MoveDigital support single file AND folder torrents?
Yes. MoveDigital’s torrent system supports "single file" torrents and folder torrents. This makes the organization of your assets within MoveDigital much easier. MoveDigital’s torrents are compatible with RSS based BitTorrent clients.
What is my MoveDigital RSS P2P feed and where do I find it?
MoveDigital automatically creates RSS P2P feeds containing pointers to all of your torrented files that have visibility setting to "public". Click on "my page" to retrieve your MoveDigital RSS P2P feed.

How to I create a mobile stream of my video file for distributing to 3G cell phones?
Go to the "my files" page and click on the file name or folder name. Select "convert > create mobile" and then click on the "create mobile" button. From the home page, click on "my MoveDigital" and then "my mobile" to access your files or use your phone to go to www.movemobi.com/YourUsername.
Which mobile phones can play MoveDigital mobile content?
MoveDigital currently supports 3G mobile phones capable of playing streaming 3GP media files. In the United States, both Sprint and Verizon sell a number of affordable phones capable of enjoying MoveDigital content.
Which media formats can MoveDigital convert to mobile format?
MoveDigital strives to be able to convert as many media formats possible into mobile form. If our service does not think it will be able to create a mobile stream from your media, it will mention this when you click "mobilize", but you can still try anyway. Currently the only media format we stream is 3GP. Our current encoding is set at 128kb/s, 12fps, 176x144 resolution.
DOWNLOAD METRICS
Where can I find the real-time download metrics for my files?
MoveDigital keeps and displays download metrics for each of your files. To see the numbers in a visual format, go to the "my files" page and change the "view" to "metrics". You can adjust the date range to focus on specific data. You can get more detail by moving the mouse over the bar graphs. Click on the "xml log" to export the download metrics to your computer (.xml format). The exported data includes even more information about each download such as size, date & time, download IP, and download browser used.
Why are MoveDigital metrics so "accurate"?
MoveDigital download metrics are "accurate" because delivery statistics are updated in real-time and only files that are fully delivered are counted.
Can I export the metrics data?
Yes. Just click on the "xml log" link in the upper right corner of the metrics area to export an .xml file. The exported data includes the size, data & time, download IP, the download browser used and number of files downloaded.
Is there a way to track which files have been downloaded and by whom?
You can export the download metrics to your computer in .xml format by clicking on the "xml log" link when in the metrics "view". The data includes the file name, file size, the data & time of the download, the download IP and the download browser. You can use an IP address map lookup service (on the Internet) to find the country, region and city associated with the IP address. Open the .xml file in Excel to see an organized, searchable, and sort-able display of the download data.
